East Manatee Fire Rescue Department Station 2

Bradenton, Florida

East Manatee Fire Rescue District serves approximately 50,000 residences in rapidly growing Eastern Manatee County. The District currently maintains six stations and a central administrative complex. Station 2 was originally constructed in 1982 and has served the community well but with the ever increasing population base, with its associated increasing equipment needs, the station no longer completely sustains the demands of the District. The Fire Board elected to maintain its presence at the current location but to demolish the thirty-four- year-old pre-engineered metal building. Their objective was to construct a new facility which better meets the demands and requirements of the district while conforming to the requirements of the current Codes. The Station has been designed per the 5 th Edition of the Florida Building Code and an enhanced wind load capacity to resist 200 mph – 3 second gust (ultimate) per ASCE 7. The station not only is home for the fire-fighters but also serves as a base for Manatee County EMS. The facility consists of a three bay pull-thru double depth apparatus area, generator room, gear room, storage, laundry, support areas, six independent bunk rooms, fitness room, office space, kitchen, dining, living, three independent bathrooms, screened area and public lobby. The campus also has a new free-standing storage building, parking, access drives, landscaping, storm water retention areas and two 1000-gallon underground LP storage tanks.
